This site is intended as a place where I can post about my writing & research – relating mostly to the supernatural and the occult in literature. My first book, The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, will be out next year from Thames & Hudson. My second will be on the Welsh writer Arthur Machen (1863-1947).
My PhD thesis, which exists out there in the internet ether, tried to account for the use of Welsh mythology and folklore in work by Arthur Machen, John Cowper Powys and Alan Garner. Beyond that I have chapters in Folklore and Nation in Britain and Ireland (2022) and International Medievalisms: From Nationalism to Activism (2023), and essays in Faunus, The Powys Journal and The Journal of Animal Ethics.
